About Me

I have lived in Kelowna all my life, was born here and enjoy this area.
(Housing is VERY expensive here, especially for students.)

Some of my interests include Web Page Design and Photography, which started in grade 9 when I took Digital Media at Dr. Knox. To further develop my knowledge, I have also taken Web Design 10, 11, and 12. Other interests include North American trains and Amateur Radio: I am a member of the Orchard City Amateur Radio Club. I like experimenting with FM radio. I also like tuning in FM stations from distant locations and listening to the different genres of music not available here.

Other things I enjoy doing from time-to-time include home painting and gardening. I enjoy going on vacations, preferably to the U.S., where the weather is warmer and I can partake in railfanning.

I have earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree (Geography Major) from
The University of British Columbia, Okanagan.

Favourite Subjects
Anything in the field of Physical or Human Geography and English Literature.
International and National History also interest me.

Least Favourite Subject: Math.

Wise Words from Me: Stay Safe on the Web.
Be extra careful on the web, and guard your privacy closely. There are plenty of ‘web-crazies’ out there, looking to stalk or bully you, or steal your personal information. Many people figure that since they cannot be seen, they can take whatever personal info it is that they want and turn it out-of-context, using it to make other people's lives a living nightmare. If you are on Facebook, make sure that you are not publicly displaying your phone number, address, marital status, birth date, or other sensitive info—even your home town or current city. A link to “add as a friend” or “send a message” is adequate. Even if you receive a friend request, and you see they have “Mutual Friends,” if you do not recognize the name, don't add them. That person would then have access to all your personal info (if you chose to display your address, phone number, etc. to friends) and you have no idea how they will use that info.
All of this applies to other sites, like MySpace and other social media sites, or even when emailing someone else or buying something online. You wouldn't give a stranger your personal info in-person, so why should it be any different online?
Save yourself the headache—use your best judgment—guard your privacy!
Also, remember to change your account passwords often!

TV Shows
Frasier is my favourite, even though the series ended a few years ago. The Late Show with David Letterman (the Top Ten segment), and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (Headlines are the best).

My Music History
My interest in music and multimedia started when I received my first stereo cassette recorder, which could record from a microphone, the radio or an external CD player. I began making mix tapes, and it was classic rock on the radio that got me into music—Led Zeppelin. Genres I tend to listen to now include Alternative Rock and Adult Alternative, some Classic Rock, even Chill Lounge, and the pop bands and singers mentioned above. Some of my favourite Chill artists include Denis Rusnak, Bonobo, Rue du Soleil, Robert Manos and Bent.

My favourite non “sell-out” artists include Fugazi, Stretch Arm Strong, Gorilla Biscuits, Propagandhi & Have Heart.

Favourite Calendars
North American Scenic Photos, Wind Power, The Far Side by Gary Larson (out of production), and classic GM vehicle calendars.

My Web Design Philosophy
“Where the web leads, people will follow.”
My goal is to produce user-friendly, easy-to-navigate websites, which are accessible to everyone, using a wide variety of browsers, screen resolutions and operating systems.
